Dr Jess Batt
Veterinarian
Hi, I’m Jess, owner of Gold City Vets and one of the Veterinarians. I have an interest in companion animals and everything that comes with them. I enjoy my job because it is hands-on and varies every day.
I really thrive on critical care work as it presents a challenge and it makes me happy sending patients home to their loved ones.
As a vet, I pride myself on patient care and excellent communication with owners to achieve the best outcome for the family. It is incredibly important to me for an owner to be fully informed about their animal’s health and the options that they have in both preventative care as well as treatment of illness or injury.
As a business owner, I am proud of our community involvement through sponsorship of sports teams, participation in work experience programs, youth mentoring and many other ways.
I look forward to caring for your pets.

Head Nurse (Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing)
Ruby Boundy
Head Nurse
Hey, I'm Ruby! I'm a qualified Veterinary Nurse here at Gold City Vets and have been part of the team since mid 2019.
I’m passionate about creating an enjoyable experience when your pets come to visit, through compassionate and attentive care. I have a keen interest in surgical nursing and anaesthesia as it provides a challenge, and you can always learn something new.
I have done nursing work in remote Indigenous communities to desex local animals and provide parasite prevention & education – a topic I believe is really important for both animal and human health.
My job is so rewarding, and I love the variety of cases and the opportunities for continuous learning.
My free time often goes between gym, social outings, outdoorsy adventures, or, (as my dog Lola prefers) at home on the couch, travel planning and saving delicious recipes I swear I’ll make one day.

Hi, I'm Bec! I'm a dedicated veterinary nurse at Gold City Vets, where I have been working since late 2022. I'm currently completing my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. I have a particular interest in anaesthetics and caring for hospital patients, and enjoy being closely involved in monitoring and supporting animals throughout their treatment and recovery.
I grew up in Charters Towers before spending 16 years away travelling and gaining life experience, eventually returning home to be closer to my family.
I am passionate about animal care and take great pride in my role supporting the health and wellbeing of pets in my community. My love for animals extends beyond work — I am also a proud dog owner to two Jack Russells who keep life fun and active.
Outside the clinic, I enjoy going to the gym and staying active, which helps me maintain a balanced lifestyle alongside a career I truly love.
